UNDERSTANDING MEDICARE
The federal government manages Original Medicare (Parts A and B), which provides Medicare-eligible individuals (called beneficiaries) with coverage and access to doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers who accept Medicare. It is a fee-for-service plan, meaning the Medicare recipient typically pays a price for each service. Medicare pays a portion of an allowed amount up to specific limits, and the beneficiary pays the remainder. To enroll in Supplement, Medicare Advantage, or Part D Prescription Drug Plans, you must be eligible for Part A or enrolled in Part B.
